The Santa Monica and greater Los Angeles community is invited to a free symposium, “Unlocking the mysteries of birth and death: Discussions on wellness and healing with physicians and alternative practitioners.”

The symposium is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the SGI-USA Santa Monica Community Center, located at 2601 Pico Blvd.

This symposium will explore the underlying causes of the issues of health, illness, aging and death from Buddhist and non-Buddhist perspectives. Professional health practitioners and lay persons will engage in a series of five panel discussions: “The Creative Family: Raising Healthy Kids,” “Spiritual Healing: Manifesting Our Inherent Power,” “Victory over Illness,” “Timeless Vitality” and “The Eternity of Life.” Each panel begins on the hour in the order above.

The Soka Grakkai International-USA (SGI-USA) is an American Buddhist movement that works in association with SGI organizations in 190 countries and territories with more than 12 million practitioners.
