WESTWOOD — When UCLA hosts Oregon during a three-game set at Jackie Robinson Stadium beginning today, a pair of brothers with ties to Santa Monica Little League will face off in a sibling rivalry.
CORVALLIS, Ore. — Ryan Katz’ search for a new place to play college football has led him to San Diego State, he revealed on Wednesday. The former Santa Monica standout at quarterback had decided to leave Oregon State in November after losing the starting job early in the fall of 2011.
CORSAIR FIELD — A slow start did little to derail Santa Monica College as it rallied late to dispatch rival West L.A., 32-21, en route to securing the Pacific Conference championship Saturday at home.
GLENDALE — Nothing comes easy for Santa Monica College’s football team. There were missed field goals, defensive miscues and a key fourth down conversion that was all part of a second half that turned into a shoot-out for the Corsairs.
CORSAIR FIELD — Santa Monica College held off a late rally by Pierce Saturday to secure a win, 37-31, at home. Pierce drove the ball all the way to the Corsairs’ 26-yard line but came up short when quarterback Jake Basmagian threw a low pass to wide receiver Joseph Morris that ended their rally.
SANTA BARBARA — Despite sloppy first half play, the Santa Monica College Corsairs rallied back to secure a 33-9 win over the Santa Barbara Vaqueros Saturday on the road thanks in large part to the defense.

CORSAIR FIELD — The 2011 football season began with gusto for the Santa Monica College Corsairs during a 24-0 home win over Compton on Saturday. The victory was a promising sign for the Corsairs as they try to improve on last season’s 4-6 record.
