ST. MONICA — For the first time in a decade, St. Monica’s girls’ basketball team can call themselves league champs. A 59-48 win over Cantwell-Sacred Heart on Thursday led the way to the Camino Real League crown.
HAWTHORNE — The boys from Samohi have earned at least a share of the Ocean League title, but it’s somewhat complicated. The combination of a win over Morningside and an Inglewood loss on Tuesday gives Santa Monica’s boys’ basketball team sole possession of first place and a direct line to the crown.
A 48-34 win over Mary Star of the Sea on Tuesday pushed St. Monica’s girls’ basketball team into a tie for first place in the Camino Real League. The Mariners were again led by junior Briana Harris, who had a game-high 20 points and set a career high with 20 rebounds.

SAMOHI — For the second straight year, Santa Monica High School’s girls’ soccer team is sending two players to NCAA Division universities. Lidia Battaglia has committed to the University of Hawaii while Kristen Vasquez will attend University of San Francisco, Head Coach Jimmy Chapman said.
