Pacifica Christian’s upstart baseball team will get back in action Thursday against Mulholland League rival Pacific Lutheran at Veteran’s Park in Carson.
WEST L.A. — For a team playing its first ever baseball season, Pacifica Christian appears to be bucking the trend and actually succeeding on the diamond.
CLOVER PARK — The wind was blowing, Crossroads players were crossing the plate and co-head coaches Matt Amido and Pat Armstrong couldn’t have been happier with the result.
SAMOHI — The hunt for a number two starter may be over for Santa Monica High School’s baseball team. Junior Alonzo Gonzalez allowed just two hits while striking out four en route to a 2-0 win over Chaminade on Saturday at Samohi as part of the Lions Tournament.
ST. MONICA — Golf is the kind of sport that usually takes years to perfect. Aside from Tiger Woods and his ilk, most players take decades to develop a competitive edge.
CROSSROADS — The Roadrunners baseball team may be 9-2 on the season, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a little extra work to be put in. Coming off a strong showing at the Santa Ynez Tournament, including a 6-2 win on Wednesday, the team is facing a bit of a layoff until the next game on April
SAMOHI — What does a team coming off a painful late-inning loss to a quality team do next? Santa Monica High School’s Head Coach Rob Duron said the only thing he and his guys can do is move on.
ENCINO — Tyler Skaggs can’t seem to catch a break. The senior pitcher took a 3-2 lead into the sixth inning only to watch from the bench as the highly-touted Crespi Celts rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game, 4-3.
CROSSROADS — It’s amazing what a little senior leadership can do. Led by a trio of veterans, Crossroads’ baseball team is enjoying a breakout season. After a pair of losing seasons, which didn’t produce a playoff appearance, the Roadrunners have raced out to 7-1 record.
SAMOHI — For the second time this week sophomore Natalie Able tossed a no-hitter. The most recent gem came at Beverly Hills during a 9-0 victory on Thursday.
SAMOHI —Head Coach Rob Duron could easily be pointing fingers. His Santa Monica High School baseball team is in the midst of a five-game losing streak.
