Three new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Santa Monica Thursday, with seven confirmed over the last two days for a total of 56 cases in the city.

An electrical transformer exploded near 7th and Marine Wednesday night. Witnesses reported hearing two explosions and SMFD responded to calls of power lines down in the neighborhood and a structure fire. The explosion also knocked out power in the area.
California public schools are likely to be closed for the remainder of the academic year, said Tony Thurmond, California State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
