SMC — It seems that soccer is a popular sport at Santa Monica College these days. The school has resurrected its men’s soccer program after nearly 20 years of not taking the pitch.

Add Oklahoma to the long list of suitors for Santa Monica High School junior wide receiver Sebastian LaRue. LaRue received the offer last week, adding Oklahoma to a group that includes Michigan, UCLA, Boise State and Arizona State.

SAMOHI — For the second time in just over a year, Samohi’s Marty Verdugo has decided to retire. The head girls’ basketball coach at Santa Monica High School made his decision late in the season, but kept it under wraps until the Vikings’ season ended late last month.
