SAMOHI — It may be early, but Santa Monica’s boys soccer team is thinking big. Just two years removed from a California Interscholastic Federation state title and coming off a third-round playoff loss last season, Head Coach Serafin Rodriguez sees the upcoming season with optimistic eyes.
Santa Monica’s Luke Zelon may have just wrapped up the football season a few weeks ago, but the versatile player still has his mind on the gridiron. He isn’t sizing up an opponent or working on game plans, but his choice of where to play next year is still a work in progress.
Santa Monica is compact, densely populated and dotted with 12 schools. Roughly, there’s 9,000 students. All but a small number of those kids get driven to school every day.
