MID CITY — Natalie Lewis is 79 years old, and she fears for her life. Lewis lives in a small studio in the 285-unit Westminster Towers, a seniors-only housing complex funded through the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Karen Ginsberg, currently the assistant director of Community & Cultural Services, has been selected to head up the department. City Manager Rod Gould chose Ginsberg following what city officials said was an “internal rigorous recruitment process” that took place earlier this month.
SMO — Flight school owners voluntarily agreed to restrict the hours their planes spend flying over Santa Monica in an attempt to “be a better neighbor” to residents that live near the airport, city officials announced Thursday.

The Friends of Sunset Park would like to believe that the Daily Press’ Dec. 9 editorial calling out the City Council’s failure to create diversity on the Airport Commission was loaded with falsehoods, but their response provided no examples of where the Daily Press got it wrong factually.

A relatively short survey focusing on the future of Santa Monica Airport (SMO) is drawing some serious attention, and for good reason. Airport Commissioner David Goddard, a real estate executive who was appointed by the City Council earlier this year, is encouraging residents to fill out the survey.
CITY HALL — The City Council voted Tuesday to ask the owner of an embattled trailer park to sell his property, a potentially expensive proposition that would kill off planned city projects and that the trailer park ownership team has not considered in the past.
