OCEAN AVE — “A time comes when silence is betrayal.” Members of the Occupy Venice organization rallied to those words by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Monday in Palisades Park in an attempt to show through their actions that they would no longer be silent.
THIRD STREET PROMENADE — For most people trying to film a martial arts epic, transporting a busload of bewildered Japanese tourists instead of your own actors to your movie set might seem to be a bit of a setback, to put it mildly.
PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — The number of robberies, burglaries, car thefts and other Part 1 crimes reported during the holiday season dropped by 26 percent overall in Downtown and 5 percent citywide, according to statistics released Tuesday by the Santa Monica Police Department.
With the demolition and rebuilding of Parking Structure 2, the Santa Monica Police Department will be closing the Downtown Substation on Second Street.
