Real-life television veterans will be on hand at Santa Monica College next month to give aspiring writers a few tips.

SMC’s Mary Pickford Speakers Series continues in March with an Emmy Award-winning director and a writer for an Emmy-winning TV drama.

On March 6, Mike Denney, Emmy Award-winning director on the long-running hit soap, “The Young and the Restless,” will give his insight into his business.

And on March 20, David McMillan, writer on the Emmy-winning television show “Judging Amy” and film teacher at Crossroads School for the Arts and Sciences in Santa Monica, will speak.

The lectures are free and are held at 7 p.m. Monday evenings at SMC’s Academy of Entertainment & Technology’s screening room, 1660 Stewart St., Santa Monica.

Seating is on a first-arrival basis. Call (310) 434-3777.
