With hundreds of firefighters, from Los Angeles and Orange County, working the front lines of the Palisades fire, tanker planes were seen scooping ocean water to fight the blaze. Additional air drops of fire retardant began later in the afternoon and local roads were closed in places to facilitate the evacuation of Palisades residents.
