# Target files paperwork for second Santa Monica store

Target has filed paperwork for a second Santa Monica location.

Officials posted an application for a new alcohol license at 1610 Wilshire Blvd. on Friday. The application lists Target Corporation as the applicant and there are renderings online showing a Target store of approximately 18,500 square feet at that location.

The location was previously occupied by Staples, which announced it would be closing this year.

The application for a Wilshire location follows a [previous application](https://www.smdp.com/target-and-tesla-announce-santa-monica-locations/172417) to open another Target store at 5th Street and Broadway. The Broadway store would occupy one of the former Fred Segal buildings and is listed as approximately 24,000 square feet.
