Mari LeGagnoux, Madeleine Youngs, Zach Gold and Dana Ritchie beat out 21 other teams in the buzzer battle which put them up against other teens that specialize in a very specific subset of science knowledge: marine science. As a prize, all four will get a trip to Florida to work with a professor from the University of Miami to check out the Everglades, tag sharks and go snorkeling. The competition was a nailbiter, Gold said, with the team going to two rounds of double elimination. β€œI think we played really well,” Gold said. β€œIt was a great competition, a great learning experience and a lot of fun.”
