These Terms govern your use of smdp.com, our newsletters, memberships, subscriptions, and all related digital services operated by Santa Monica Daily Press (“SMDP,” “we,” “our,” “us”).
By accessing or using our services, including free and paid memberships, you agree to these Terms.

ELIGIBILITY

You must be at least 13 years old to use our services.
Paid subscriptions require that you are 18 years old or legally able to enter into a contract.

ACCOUNTS

You may create an account to access certain features.

You agree to:

• $50 if no payments were made

• Your content
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any laws or third-party rights

TERMINATION

We may suspend or terminate access if:

• Fraudulent or abusive activity occurs
• Legal or regulatory requirements apply
• Operational needs require it

You may request account deletion at any time by emailing members@smdp.com.

GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
Any disputes must be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.

CHANGES TO TERMS

We may update these Terms.
Updated terms will include a new “Last updated” date.
Continued use of the services constitutes acceptance.

MEMBERSHIP TERMS

These Membership Terms apply to all free and paid SMDP accounts, including Ghost-based logins.

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

Free Membership

Includes:

• Free articles
• Newsletters
• Commenting if enabled
• Basic features

Paid Membership

Includes:

• Members-only content
• Premium newsletters
• Exclusive features
• Special events

Benefits may change over time.

BILLING AND RECURRING PAYMENTS

Paid memberships may be billed monthly, annually, or one-time.
By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges until you cancel.
Payments are processed by Stripe or another provider.
Taxes may apply.

FREE TRIALS

If offered, trial duration will be shown at signup.
Regular billing begins at the end of the trial unless you cancel beforehand.

CANCELLATIONS

You may cancel anytime:

• In account settings, or
• By emailing members@smdp.com

Cancellation stops future charges.
We do not refund past payments unless required by law.
Access continues until the end of the billing period.

REFUNDS

Refunds may be issued only for:

• Billing errors
• Duplicate charges
• Legal obligations

Requests must be submitted within 30 days of the charge.
No prorated refunds.

ACCOUNT SHARING

Memberships are for individual use.
You may not share login credentials.
We may restrict or suspend accounts showing suspicious simultaneous logins.

MEMBER CONTENT

If you post comments or submit content:

• You grant SMDP a license to use, display, and moderate it
• We may remove content at any time

CHANGES TO MEMBERSHIPS

We may modify or discontinue:

• Features
• Pricing
• Benefits
• Membership tiers

If pricing changes, we will notify you in advance.
Continued membership equals acceptance.

MEMBERSHIP TERMINATION

We may suspend or terminate memberships for:

• Policy violations
• Abuse
• Fraud
• Chargebacks
• Legal reasons

You may request deletion of your personal data under our Privacy Policy.

DISCLAIMERS SPECIFIC TO MEMBERSHIPS

Membership access and content are provided “as is.”
We do not guarantee:

• Availability
• Uninterrupted access
• Error-free performance

Our liability is limited to the amount you paid in the past 12 months.
