On July 21 at approximately 11:40 p.m., Santa Monica police officers were responding to the 300 block of the Santa Monica Pier following a report oflost juveniles being located.
Upon arrival, officers observed a separate verbal altercation between a male adult suspect and the manager of a kiosk that sells small gifts.
Officers heard the manager telling the suspect that he wanted his property back and the suspect swore and walked away.
Officers followed the suspect to the parking lot located on the north side of the pier. The suspect was detained and officers recovered some of the stolen property. The suspect was placed under private person's arrest.
Guy Smith, 42, of Thousand Oaks, had bail set at $10,000.
