A union of music, arts, science, healing and ceremony are to be celebrated at the Seventh Annual Topanga Earth Day this weekend.

The theme of this year’s festival will be “Only Our Foot Prints Left Behind,” to be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, at the Topanga State Park Nature Center at Trippet Ranch, 20825 Entrada Rd. in Topanga.

In an effort to help improve the environment, members of the public are invited to take part in the Topanga Creek cleanup from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 22, the day before the festival. Those who participate in the creek’s cleanup will receive free admission to the Topanga Earth Day Festival to be held on Sunday. There will be a suggested admission fee for festival attendees who don’t participate in the cleanup.

The Topanga Earth Day Festival will begin with an opening ceremony by Edwin Lemus and Grupo Samai.

Some of the activities will include a 10 a.m. yoga class led by Michelle Broussard and alternative energy demonstrations from the creative minds of Delmar Lathers and Ken Widen, who will exhibit “PedalPowered” fruit smoothies and solar ovens. There also will be a solar-powered sound system by Jon Sherman of Solar Sound.

Musical offerings will include the Yuval Ron Ensemble, described as a “Musical United Nations,” who will perform in a variety of sacred musical traditions.
