Transportation Workshop Offers Resources for Seniors and Disabled Residents
Published:

Santa Monica residents will have the opportunity to learn about transportation options for older adults and people with disabilities during a free workshop Friday.

The city is partnering with Lyft and the Elder-Well Adult Day Program to host the educational event, which will cover several transportation programs including the Mobility On-Demand Every Day (MODE) Program, Senior TAP cards, Lyft Silver and the LIFE Program. Participants will also receive a complimentary lunch.

The workshop is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 10, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Elder-Well Adult Day Program, located at 1529 Wilshire Blvd.

Attendees planning to complete applications during the event should bring specific documentation. Required items include a valid government-issued photo identification such as a state ID, driver's license or passport. Proof of Santa Monica residency is also necessary, which can include a utility bill dated within three months, a copy of a lease agreement, property tax bill or a Housing Authority letter verifying assistance dated within one year.

Income verification is required for those seeking to qualify for low-income programs. Acceptable documents include Cal Fresh or EBT cards, federal tax returns, Medi-Cal cards, proof of Lifeline service, recent pay stubs, SNAP documentation or W-2 forms.

The workshop aims to help residents navigate available transportation resources that can improve mobility and independence for seniors and individuals with disabilities in Santa Monica.

Street parking near the venue is limited, and organizers encourage attendees to use public transportation. Big Blue Bus Route 2 provides service to the area.

Reservations are optional but welcomed. Interested residents can RSVP by calling 310-310-8313 or visiting the registration link.

The collaboration between the city, Lyft and Elder-Well Adult Day Program reflects ongoing efforts to address transportation challenges faced by vulnerable populations in Santa Monica.
