*By Jerry Rubin Santa Monica Treesavers*

I was notified on Friday afternoon by a representative of the Bayside District that a number of the press releases for our upcoming Treesaver march to save the trees along Second and Fourth streets had been adhered — apparently with glue — to city traffic poles.

I want (Daily Press) readers to know that Treesavers does not support gluing or otherwise fastening fliers, literature or press releases to city poles or any other city or private property.

When we tied our “Save These Trees” green posters around threatened trees (with green ribbon), it was to let people know that many of these beautiful mature ficus trees are slated for destruction or uprooting and relocation.

We appreciate people’s passion about this issue and we appreciate people distributing information regarding our upcoming crucial events and meetings, but again, we implore everyone who is supporting us to refrain from posting fliers, etc. on city or private property.

For further information, visit www.treesavers.blogspot.com or call me personally at (310) 399-1000.
