Two new grant programs totaling $10,000 each opened this week to help Los Angeles County businesses recover from January's devastating wildfires.
The "Back to Business L.A. Wildfire Relief Grant" opened Monday at noon, offering $10,000 grants to small businesses impacted by wind and wildfire events that began Jan. 7, 2025. LISC Los Angeles operates the program with funding from Wells Fargo.
Eligible businesses must be located in fire-impacted areas of Los Angeles County and expect to remain operational within six to 12 months. At least 80 percent of grant funds must go toward replacing lost or damaged equipment, while remaining funds can cover employee wages, rent, utilities and other expenses.
The application window closes July 28 at 11:59 p.m. Businesses can apply at http://bit.ly/46duwze.
A second program, the "Malibu-Topanga Business Interruption Fund," opens Tuesday at 9 a.m. The county-operated program also provides $10,000 grants to affected businesses in the Malibu and Topanga areas.
An application workshop for the Malibu-Topanga fund is scheduled for Thursday, July 31 at noon at the Malibu Library, 23519 West Civic Center Way, Malibu. A Topanga workshop will be announced later.
Businesses can apply for the Malibu-Topanga grant at http://bit.ly/SD3BIF.
The January wildfires caused widespread damage across Los Angeles County, forcing business closures and equipment losses. Both grant programs aim to help small businesses rebuild and maintain operations during the recovery period.
The Back to Business program specifically targets businesses that can demonstrate operational viability within the next year, while the Malibu-Topanga fund focuses on the hardest-hit coastal and mountain communities.
Application workshops provide business owners assistance with completing grant applications and understanding program requirements. Additional information about both programs is available through their respective websites.
