Transportation is one of the biggest challenges for low-income families in Santa Monica, and often times the absence of a car causes young people to miss out on life skills that are developed during after-school activities.
But thanks to a recent donation from Bridgestone and Firestone Complete Auto Care stores, children at the Boys & Girls Club of Mar Vista Gardens now have even more opportunities to enjoy the college road trips and off-campus activities thanks to a passenger van that was gifted to the clubhouse.
Staff said during a surprise celebration this week that the donation doubles the amount of students who will be able to access off-campus experiences and learning opportunities.
