Venice Community Housing will honor Congresswoman Maxine Waters with the inaugural Courage in Action Award at its 33rd Annual Jazz Brunch this October.
The Oct. 12 event will recognize Waters for her commitment to housing justice, equity and empowerment of underserved communities. The jazz brunch is a tradition that brings together local leaders, artists and supporters for live jazz, food and storytelling in the heart of Venice.
"We are thrilled to recognize Representative Waters, whose leadership has been instrumental in advancing housing policy and protecting the rights of our most vulnerable neighbors," said Erika Lee, co-executive director of Venice Community Housing. "Her legacy inspires our work every day."
The event raises critical funds to support VCH's mission of providing affordable housing and supportive services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.
Guests will enjoy performances by renowned jazz musicians, brunch and opportunities to connect with changemakers across Los Angeles. All proceeds will directly benefit VCH's housing programs, youth services and community initiatives.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Above the Block, 11301 W. Olympic Blvd., Suite 301, Los Angeles.
Tickets are available at vchcorp.org/jazz.
