Santa Monica Daily Press Publisher Ross Furukawa conducts a one on one conversation with Ben Allenin anticipation of the upcoming election for California State Senator, 26th District.

Ben Allen,as a sitting member of our school board, has some definite ideas about schools. We emerged fairly successful, he recalls, from a very difficult period when most districts were devastated by cuts and lost many programs." I believe in smart cuts, and new revenues." But we need to increase it, he stated, because we're still spending only half per-person as other states, way below the national average. He believes we need to extend Prop.30, in 2016\. "It wouldn't raise taxes, just keep them where they are." He says he supported the city's lawsuit to gain control of the airport, "but it seems pretty clear the law is on the side of the FAA."
