Medical marijuana has been a hot button issue in Santa Monica for some time. There are those that say we should follow Los Angeles' lead and allow dispensaries, while others don't believe they belong in the city by the sea at all.
The City Council placed a moratorium on dispensaries last year and the Planning Commission is currently looking into the issue. Some city officials, including the chief of police, don't recommend allowing them within the city limits.
