Officials want Santa Monicans to weigh in on how to end homelessness in 10 years. The city of Santa Monica, in partnership with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, will be hosting a Bring LA Home community meeting and discussion on Monday, Jan. 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main St.

Initiated by the Department of Health and Human Services, the Bring LA Home partnership is a focused countywide effort with the goal of ending homelessness in LA County by 2013\. Convened by a panel of public officials, leaders from business, civic and faith-based organizations, and people who have experienced homelessness in Los Angeles, the partnership will strive to create a comprehensive and realistic 10-year strategic plan.

Santa Monica’s Mayor Richard Bloom, a member of the Bring LA Home Blue Ribbon Panel, in coordination with other panel members, will guide the partnership by hosting 14 community meetings throughout LA County. Monday’s meeting is an opportunity for community members to learn about the latest research and data on homelessness, and to offer advice and opinions on how to best address the problem of homelessness.
