Drought: The first three months of the year were the driest in recorded state history and agencies across the region are struggling to prepare for ongoing drought. While many are implementing water conservation measures, water storage projects have lagged behind population growth. Locally Santa Monica has installed several water storage projects in recent years including underground facilities near the beach and the Civic Center.
