The Santa Monica Elks will host its annual soccer shoot-out on Aug. 22 at the Santa Monica Boys and Girls Club, 1238 Lincoln Blvd. The event will start at 2 p.m. It’s open to any boy or girl between the ages of 8 and 13 who lives in Santa Monica or the surrounding areas, as long as they have not participated in a similar event conducted by another Elks Lodge. There is no fee to participate.

National, state and district schedules require that local lodges conduct their matches in August, which is the busy time for local leagues.
