By Julia Reeves Santa Monica
It is inconceivable to me that anyone could be filled with such viciousness, lack of caring, and total disregard for the safety of those living in close proximity to the runways at the Santa Monica Airport (“Airport’s neighbors need to stop,” page 4, Jan. 18).
If the writer of that letter considers those who are rightfully concerned “cry babies,” then I wonder what manner of a man this person is.
I decry this outrageous attack against the residents and all those who are attempting to put an immediate halt to the increasing use of the airport by the larger, faster flying jets. This airport, as we all know by now, was never built to accommodate these type of aircraft, and those concerned have every right to be. Just take as an example the (recent) incident when an aircraft overshot the runway.
As far as “discounted homes,” there is no such thing in Santa Monica. I can only conclude that the writer of this letter has a vested interest, personally, in the airport, and he does not give a “hoot” about those constantly in danger.
Once again, I offer my total support to Friends of Sunset Park, and all those who are giving priority to the safety of the residents living close to the runways. It is just ludicrous to me to even fathom the description of them as “cry babies.”
I wonder just how the writer thinks he can speak for “all of America,” What arrogance and hubris.
