Relics from the Shakyamuni Buddha will be on display at the Santa Monica First Presbyterian Church this weekend.

The relics come from a collection that was released for world exhibition in 2001. Since then, the relics have been all over the world on the “Heart Shrine Tour.” Relics from the Buddha’s disciples, along with saints and spiritual masters from the Indian, Chinese and Tibetan Buddhist tradition, will be on display.

The pieces include crystalline and pearl-like deposits, as well as bone collected from the ashes of spiritual masters after cremation and fragments of writings.

The exhibit is free, and Santa Monicans of all cultural and religious backgrounds are invited. Bring a small jar or vial if you would like to receive water blessed by the energy of the relics.

The relics can be seen on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 1220 Second St. Parking is available in several parking structures on Second Street.
