It’s time to put poetry in motion this weekend at SMC. As part of the college's year-round 75th Anniversary celebration, Santa Monica College's Synapse Dance Theater will present a program of dance featuring SMC alumni at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 13.
The program will include modern dance, and elements of hip-hop, poetry, video, and puppetry to celebrate dramatic possibilities in dance.
A mixed-media collaboration between Synapse artistic director Linda Gold and SMC entertainment technology professor David Javelosa will explore movement-activated sounds and images on stage.
Returning to Synapse are guests Jolianne Baum, Ola Hudson, April Love Hughing, Rachel Lopez and Roberta Wolin-Manker, who also is an adjunct professor, as is guest choreographer Meri Bender.
Synapse performs regularly at SMC, throughout Southern California and the greater Southwest.
The program will be held at Highways Performance Space, 1651 18th St. Tickets are $15 general admission and $12 for students and seniors. Call (310) 315-1459.
