Heal the Bay is celebrating Earth Month in April with coastal and creek cleanups, and family activities in Playa del Rey, Compton Creek, the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium and Malibu Creek State Park.

“The ocean is a huge part of Southern California’s culture,” said Heal the Bay Executive Director Dr. Mark Gold. “We are fortunate to live in an area with incredible natural beauty and we have to make sure we keep our coastline clean.” Earth Month is a great time to teach people the importance of the environment and how they can help protect it, Gold said.

The Santa Monica-based environmental group will kick off Earth Month with a cleanup at Playa del Rey Beach from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 15.
