Fresh off a trip to New York and a national college competition, Santa Monica College dance students will soon present new work and talk about their experiences.

The event is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, at SMC’s gym, 1900 Pico Blvd.

Approximately 25 SMC dance students and their professor, Linda Gold, spent nearly a week at Montclair State University in New Jersey, just outside New York, competing in and taking classes at the American College Dance Festival, which draws mostly four-year universities.

In their free time, students visited dance studios and schools, including Alvin Ailey and New York University, and went to performances in nearby New York City. Local legion celebrates 40th birthday
