Children who have an appreciation for sea life, and the parents who love them, will all be able to enjoy special activities planned at the aquarium for Earth Day.
Heal the Bay’s marine education facility, the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium, will host a day of marine exploration and ocean awareness called “Commotion in the Ocean” from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 30.
Activities for the day include oceanographic demonstrations in the aquarium and on the pier, celebrity readings of environmental ocean-themed books, educational presentations and activities, and take-home arts and crafts projects.
Each visiting child will receive a free marine-themed book to take home and visitors will receive discount coupons for other pier businesses.
The aquarium is located at 1600 Ocean Front Walk, below the historic Santa Monica Pier Carousel. Admission is free for children 12 and under; $5 for ages 13 and above.
