Those who say the days of the sitcom are dead may not have seen “Sugar Happens: A One-Girl Show,” which has been running at The Lee Strasberg Theater in West Hollywood for 10 months.
The show recounts nice/naughty Jewish girl Rachel Bailit’s ascent from Nowhere (Needham, Mass.) to Almost-There (The Proverbial Cutting Room Floor). It’s the bracingly honest personal story of one aspiring actress in a city full of aspiring actresses.
Rachel’s undying optimism inspires, and her comic and considerable anatomical gifts are on bounteous display.
The show is written by Emmy winning writer, Sherry Coben, and directed by David Lee Strasberg. The show was featured at the HBO Aspen Comedy Festival on a referral from a producer on The Tonight Show.
The show runs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Lee Strasberg Theater in West Hollywood.
