The Angelic Auxiliary’s Carnival at the Pier event, held March 20, raised a record of more than $150,000 for child abuse prevention programs offered by Children’s Bureau. Nearly 600 children and parents attended the event that included unlimited amusement rides, park games, a silent auction and other activities.

“We are thrilled with how much the event raised for programs that will help abused and neglected children,” said Candy Beaver, president of The Angelic Auxiliary. “The event was a huge success, thanks to the generous support of hundreds of individuals (our family and friends), corporations and foundations in our community who joined together for an incredible cause,” she added.

The Angelic Auxiliary was established in 1997 and is comprised of nearly 50 young, socially-conscious women from the Westside. Since the group was formed, more than $750,000 has been raised for Children’s Bureau.

Children’s Bureau is a 100-year-old non-profit leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect. Nearly 9,000 children and their families are served each year throughout Southern California. Free concerts are music to the public’s ears
