Published:

yoga teachers to co-lead workshops and retreats on contemplative practice. The practitioners have revived meditation techniques that originated with the desert fathers in the early years of the church but had gone underground.

Rossi teaches yoga at Loyola Marymount University and leads workshops on yoga as embodied prayer at parishes and retreat centers, and works as a spiritual director. Rossi is a certified yoga instructor and holds M.A. degrees in both Dance and Psychology. She has studied with some of the most distinguished teachers within the tradition of centenarian yoga.

A life-long Catholic, Rossi is actively involved in contemplative and meditation practices. She is completing certificates in both Spiritual Direction and Yoga Philosophy at LMU. The retreat-workshop at St. Monica’s will include both practice and discussion, and it is designed for all levels, from people who have never taken a yoga class to seasoned practitioners. Participants will perform simple poses, breathing techniques, and meditation, as well as explore how yoga can enhance the Catholic experience.

Those attending should wear comfortable clothes, bring a yoga mat, and plan to practice without shoes.

To register, contact Larry Donnelly, Pastoral Care Coordinator, by phone at (310) 393-9287, ext. 530.
