Letter: Opposing John McCain and More War in Iraq

Published:

By Ron Lowe Santa Monica

President Bush says more war. Republican presidential front-runner John McCain says much more war. (McCain states that he wants American soldiers to remain in Iraq for 100 years or more) Republicans say more war. Evangelical Republicans are gung ho for more war. You know what the military-industrial complex wants?

The abbreviated defense budget is $475 billion (over $700 billion when concealed costs are included) this year and Republicans are legislating for more.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it — George Santayana. Those who cannot remember the past seven years under George Bush are doomed to repeat it with John McCain as president.
