Santa Monica College is presenting its traditional end-of-semester screening of student films produced by members of the SMC Student Filmmakers Association, formerly the Cinema Club.
The evening will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 2, in room 214 of the SMC Art Complex, 1900 Pico Blvd. The event is free, as is parking. Seating is limited and is on a first-arrival basis. The club’s members provide free pizza and refreshments.
With short films ranging across all genres, the festival of student work also showcases a wide diversity of filmmaking visions and voices representing SMC’s eclectic mix of national origins and ethnicities.
The SMC Student Filmmakers Association is one of the most popular clubs on campus, providing SMC students with the opportunity to produce short films on a campus where there are no formal filmmaking courses available. Films are made on ultra-low budgets and are completely student-financed. They are mostly shot on digital video and edited on home computer systems.
The evening of SMC student films is sponsored by the SMC Communication Department in association with the Student Filmmakers Association.
