The First United Methodist Church of Santa Monica is inviting the public to walk the Labyrinth, an ancient meditation tool used for centering and prayer. The church’s Labyrinth is a 30-foot-by-30-foot canvas with the labyrinth design painted on it — a replica of the one laid in the floor of Chartres Cathedral in the Middle Ages.
The event is free, and no reservations are needed. Participants are asked to bring white socks to protect the labyrinth’s surface. Shoe covers are provided for those who prefer not to remove their shoes. Walk anytime between the designated hours of 10:30 a.m. to noon (last entry at 11:15 a.m.) and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (last entry at 3:45 p.m.) on Sunday, June 19. The First United Methodist Church is located at 1008 11th St. Call Mary Garbesi at (310) 393-8258 or visit www.santamoni-caumc.org for more information. Local authors, illustrators at Venice Library
