You might not be able to tell, but there’s another world of theater in the Santa Monica Mountains.
George Bernard Shaw’s social romantic comedy “You Can Never Tell” (1898) will open at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum on Saturday, July 1 at 8 p.m. followed by a reception with the actors.
Shaw distinguished his plays by two categories: pleasant or unpleasant. “You Can Never Tell” will be a pleasant theatrical excursion — full of laughter, romance and dentistry — to a seaside town in England, event organizers said.
The Theatricum Botanicum amphitheater is terraced into the hillside of the canyon, so dress casually, bring a sweater or jacket, and bring cushions for bench seating.
The venue is located at 1419 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., which is midway between Malibu and the San Fernando Valley.
The play will continue through Oct. 1. Visit www.theatricum.com for a detailed performance schedule.
