Readers weigh in on Santa Monica Pier breakwater rebuild or gangway plan

Published:

Pier officials are working on a plan to bring sport fishing and boating back to Santa Monica.

Currently they are considering two options: an estimated $13 million plan that would restore the breakwater just north of the Santa Monica Pier to accommodate commercial boating and a harbor, or a substantially less expensive gangway that might achieve the same goal. A recommendation could be presented to the City Council as early as August.

So this week, Q-Line wants to know, “Which plan do you favor — the breakwater rebuild or the gangway? Why? Is there another option that should be considered?”
