Listen and vent at the Church in Ocean Park’s spoken word and open mic event. Poets Pam Ward and Joy Buckley will be reading their works on Saturday, July 15, at 7 p.m., followed by an open mic session. Ward published “Jacked-Up,” has edited five anthologies and had her poetry included in “Scream When you Burn: An Anthology from Caffeine Magazine and Grand Passion: Anthology of Los Angeles Poets.” She is a California Arts Council Fellow in Literature.
Buckley lives in Mar Vista, but traveled between Venice Beach and San Francisco’s North Beach “beat style” in the 1950s. Her poetry has been published in the United States, Canada and Europe.
Cost of admission is based on a sliding scale from $15 to $5; no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
