I have several questions for you. The first question is, how can you print a letter from a person who would like to see the homeless hurt? The second question is, how can you print a letter that involves the acts of hate crimes against another person? (SMDP, letters to the editor by John Zarchen, July 22, page 4.) In Tuesday’s paper this person insulted another person because of words said that are used in England. I feel as though people like this gentleman need to really come out here and get the real facts about homelessness. I am homeless because of disabilities and am attacked quite frequently and as recent as Sunday morning. What did the police do for me? Nothing because the perpetrator was homeless and mentally ill herself, but I am the one who has to wear a cast/splint on my hand and thumb for at least eight weeks or more. This lady has been attacking other people, including the non-homeless.
Another fact for this gentleman. He talks about how great this officer Sky is but does he really know the truth about the cop? No, so before he can jump to conclusions and assume, he needs to stop and think about what he says and does because it gets everyone hurt in the long run.
I work at a newspaper and I know for a fact that we would not have printed something like that and that I recommend that he pick up the next several issues of Making Change and read about the definition on hate that my grandmother taught me before she died.
