Here’s your chance to receive fun gifts and be philanthropic at the same time. Daybreak Designs, run by the women of Daybreak Shelter who are working to overcome mental illness, will be selling a variety of gifts, including hand-painted greeting cards, jewelry, afghans and other gifts.

Daybreak Shelter is a project of the Ocean Park Community Center. The shelter aims to provide a supportive, structured living situation for as many as 15 mentally ill women for up to six months, officials say.

The Daybreak Designs Summer Sale can be found at 1610 Seventh St. The two sales will take place on Aug. 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call Donna Miller at (310) 264-6646, ext. 235, or contact
