While some of her peers this summer were vacationing at luxury resorts, 17-year-old Santa Monica resident Adrienne Beitcher pushed herself to new heights by trekking through clouds and rainforests, climbing trees, rappelling down waterfalls, camping in remote Mestizo villages, rafting down class III rapids and surfing warm water breaks in Costa Rica.

During her Costa Rica Rainforest Outward Bound School (CRROBS) 15-day Multi- Element, Beitcher became part of a self-reliant group exploring the Costa Rican rainforest.

“I learned a lot and grew as a person,” Beitcher said. “The trip made me think about who I want to be quite a bit. I met amazing people and had the best 15 days of my life.”

CRROBS has offered college credit for an array of year-round wilderness adventure courses throughout Central America since receiving its Outward Bound International membership in 1994. Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center seeks tennis players
