Sand Brim, owner of Altered Space Brim, opened the Culture Shop Gallery on Santa Monica’s Montana Avenue in May of 1997. When she moved to Abbot Kinney in Venice early this year, she re-named the gallery Altered Space and she joined A. Mason, a fashion boutique, and Koren, a fashion accessories boutique, in the Abbot Kinney Collective. The Altered Space collection includes furniture and lighting, fine art and sculpture, a vast selection of functional art for the home, and a jewelry collection. In addition to the work showcased in the gallery from more than 150 contemporary artists and craftsmen, a number of other artists are represented through their portfolios. The gallery is known for its expertise in bringing artistic talent to their clients by facilitatingcommissions and custom work, artistic officials say.
The official opening is Saturday, Aug. 20, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and will be open until Sept. 25. The Altered Space Gallery is located at 1220 Abbot Kinney. Gallery hours are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday and Monday. For more information, call (310) 452-8121.
