In conjunction with the exhibition “Compulsive Repetition: (Re) reading the Object in Space,” on view from July 23 through Sept. 30, the 18th Street Arts Center will present a talk by the curator and the artists.
Alma Ruiz, associate curator at MOCA, will lead the exhibition dedicated to new and recent works of Sandra Tucci and Joe Davidson.
Both artists also will discuss their work and answer questions, facilitating an informal discussion with artists and curators in the exhibition gallery of the 18th Street Arts Center.
The event will be held on Aug. 25 at 7:30 p.m. The event is a continuation of 18th Street’s “Art Talks,” which bring together local and international artists with the general public to discuss their works and projects.
In 2005, public artist Jon Tarry of Australia, photographer Jaakko Heikkila of Finland, art administrator Alexandra Cohen and filmmaker Sandy Amerio of France, have shared their point of view and experiences with audiences.
Founded in 1988, 18th Street Arts Center is Southern California’s oldest and largest international art center of its kind, a nonprofit residential arts center in Santa Monica.
The event is free and attendance is limited. For more information and reservations, contact Michael Sakamoto at (310) 453-3711 or Activist group to hold public gathering
