Creating a mural is often the work of one artist, but at PS#1 (Pluralistic School), a private elementary school in Santa Monica, the entire school will be painting.

On Saturday, Aug. 26, local Santa Monica artist Peter Tigler will create a mural with the students in the same way that he engaged hundreds of Santa Monica Festival-goers to use paint-loaded fingers to complete a color-by-numbers plan. Tigler’s work has previously appeared at the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Skirball Center and the Natural History Museum.

From 10 a.m.to 4 p.m.,the Pluralistic School community will bring to life the wall of their playground, which is located on 12th Street between Broadway and Santa Monica Boulevard.

PS#1 intends for the mural — themed “the spirit of discovery” — to inspire, provoke and fascinate children and adults in the community for years to come. For more information, contact or call (310) 394-1313, ext. 109.
