The Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center will be trying to beat breast cancer with tennis balls.

The medical center will be hosting their eighth annual “Westside Challenge to Beat Breast Cancer” tennis tournament, calling on tennis players of all skill levels to register.

The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the UCLA-Los Angeles Tennis Center.

The event features a round-robin tennis marathon as well as family activities, entertainment and a post-tournament reception with a silent auction and awards ceremony.

Proceeds benefit the low-cost mammography screening program at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center, which provides affordable screening and diagnostic mammograms, if needed, to eligible community residents.

All players receive a souvenir tennis bag and are invited to pre-event instructional clinics run by tennis professionals.
