A benefit for hurricane victims will be celebrated New Orleans-style this Thursday with a Mardi Gras party.
The money raised for the fundraiser that begins at 5 p.m. on the Third Street Promenade will go to the American Red Cross and Salvation Army, which will be there to collect donations.
The event will have live music, jugglers, tarot card readers, acrobats, magicians and belly dancers on the Promenade. There also will be a poker tournament and comedy show at the Yankee Doodle Billiard Club, 1431 Third Street Promenade.
Gotham Hall, also on the Promenade, is throwing a Mardi Gras Party for those 21 years and older at 9:30 p.m. and is charging $20, to be donated to the American Humane Society.
