The California Heritage Museum will present a public speaking engagement by Sandi Fox, retired Collection Curator of Quilts for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. Fox’s presentation will follow the development of quilts made as community gifts for westward-bound settlers to the distinctive California Arts Quilt seen in the museum’s current exhibition for the Smithsonian.

Admission is $5, while California Heritage Museum members get in free. Refreshments will be served. The museum will be open from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. prior to the talk. Reservations are required.

The lecture complements the exhibition “California Art Quilts, Recent Work by the California Members of Studio Art Quilt Associates,” which brings together work from 30 members of Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) to show the cutting-edge of fiber art in California. The exhibition remains on view at the California Heritage Museum until Dec. 3.

The California Heritage Museum is located in the 1894 Historic Landmark House, 2612 Main St. Exhibition hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call (310) 392-8537.
